Normal route to the refuge

Starting point : les Lanchettes

Duration : 2h15

Grade : easy (T2).

From les Lanchettes, walk the large trail heading north and going along the buildings. Look up, you can see the refuge ! After the footbridge, walk up to the cascades on the right. From the cascades, the trail turns left to reach the Rochers Rouges (2446m).




After the Rochers Rouges, you will have to walk a steep but short moraine. The trail will finally climb more gradually and you will easily reach the refuge where you can have a well deserved draft beer!


There are cairns and yellow signs all along the way to the refuge.


Col du Mont Tondu

Directly from the refuge. Only for experienced hikers. Technical way with cables and dangerous sections. Grade : T4.


Loop around the Vallée des Glaciers

You can walk a 3 days hike all around the vallée des Glaciers and then enjoy its amazing views and wilderness. Click on the following link to discover the map describing the route. The trail between the refuge de la Croix du Bonhomme and the refuge Robert Blanc, then the col de la Seigne, called Sentier Thomas Rocques, is more technical than the rest of the TMB. It is a true mountain trail : rocky and steep parts, screes, cables and chains, streams to cross.

    • Day 1 : les Chapieux-refuge de la Croix du Bonhomme : 950m D+, 3h ;
    • Day 2 : refuge de la Croix du Bonhomme-refuge Robert Blanc : 1000 m D+, 6h30 ;
    • Day 3 : refuge Robert Blanc-les Chapieux : 500 m D+, 6h. You can short it by taking the shuttle to la Ville des Glaciers.

Don’t forget to stop to the Ville des Glaciers to get some amazing beaufort cheese to the Juglaret farm!
